Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook and the man who banned Trump from his platform, is facing a devastating storm of worst-case scenarios. His net worth declined by billions of dollars Monday amid an hours-long Facebook outage, as well as shocking revelations from an internal whistleblower.
On Monday morning, users of Facebook and other platforms that it owns — including Instagram and WhatsApp — were unable to access the applications.
“Facebook employees also were cut off from email, internal communication tools, and physical access to building sites because of the outage,” The New York Times reported.
Following the events of Jan. 6 at the U.S. Capitol, Facebook indefinitely suspended then-President Donald Trump from its platform.
“We believe the risks of allowing the President to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great,” Zuckerberg said at the time.
