Star David Koechner charged with DUI, hit-and-run following new year’s eve arrest

Following his New Year’s Eve arrest in California, Anchorman star David Michael Koechner has been charged with Driving under the influence (DUI) and hit-and-run and will soon appear in Ventura County Superior Court.

David Koechner has been charged with a DUI and hit-and-run three months after ringing in the year 2022 behind the prison.

The actor has been charged with one count of DUI and one count of hit-and-run, according to the Ventura County District Attorney’s office. Both counts are misdemeanors, with each count having a potential prison sentence of up to six months.

First-time offenders, on the other hand, rarely face jail time, thus the actor is likely to receive probation and a mandated alcohol education course, according to the source. In a few weeks, Koechner will appear in court.

According to reports, police received a call regarding an erratic driver who had allegedly hit a street sign with his automobile.

When cops apprehended Koechner, they administered a field sobriety test, which he failed. The comedian, who has appeared on Saturday Night Live, The Office, and American Dad, was subsequently arrested and put into the Ventura County Jail.

Officer Casey Nicholson told TMZ at the time of the actor’s arrest, “Mr. Koechner was driving into oncoming traffic (the incorrect lane on the other side of the street) where the officer was coming.” “An officer drove past him, made a U-turn, and pulled him over a few blocks away.”

Before being detained for DUI, Nicholson said the actor displayed “outward symptomology of intoxication.”

After leaving a local 7-Eleven, Koechner remained unconcerned about his detention and was observed filling up his car at a gas station one day after being released.

He was driving a beat-up SUV with dents, but it’s unclear if that’s the same car he was driving when he hit a street sign two days before.
