Sen. Manchin claimed that he does not expect inflation or gas prices to fall

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) remarked on CNN’s “Situation Room” on Tuesday that he doesn’t see gas prices or inflation falling “at all.” And he stressed the importance of “getting your financial house in order” and ensuring American energy independence.

“I don’t see inflation or gas costs falling ‘at all’; we need to get our financial house in order.” Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) stated.

“The president is also blaming the high gas prices right now — and the inflation,” host Wolf Blitzer said. “He’s blaming Russia, naming it Putin’s price hike. Is it possible for the White House to declare Putin is fully to blame? Because, as you may be aware, prices had been growing long before the Russian invasion.”

“Well, no doubt about it,” Manchin said, “that’s produced a significant increase in the price of gasoline at the pump.” But it is inflation that is killing us all. I can tell you that inflation is wreaking havoc on the people of West Virginia.

Regardless of how you look at it, inflation is a tax.

We have the most environmentally friendly fossil fuels. We make them cleaner than everyone else. We also have the financial means to invest in the new and cleaner technology that will help us achieve a better climate. “We can take care of everything.”

“Inflation right now is as bad as it’s been…in 40 years,” Blitzer continued. It’s a serious situation. Senator, do you believe inflation and, for that matter, gas prices will only grow worse before they improve?”

“I don’t see them regressing at all,” Manchin responded.
