Released On Parole, 83-Year-Old Convicted Murderer Charged With Killing, Decapitating, and Disposing Woman’s Body On Busy Street.

According to NBC New York, an 83-year-old transgender woman who goes by the name Harvey Marcelin, allegedly murdered a 68-year old woman, Susan Leyden, by chopping her head and limbs and placing her body in a waste bag in a shopping cart uncovered on a popular Brooklyn roadway.

An 83-year-old woman was arrested and charged with killing a woman in Brooklyn and dismembering her body. She had previously been convicted of murder and released on parole.

In a statement released on Thursday, Eric Gonzalez, who currently serves as the district attorney for Kings County in Brooklyn, New York said, “Last week, my office charged Harvey Marcelin with allegedly concealing the severed head of a woman in her house and putting the victim’s corpse in a bag on the street.”

“Today, a grand jury indicted Harvey Marcelin for murder, and my office is dedicated to pursuing justice relentlessly.” The details of this heinous crime are grisly and disturbing, and my heart breaks for the victim’s family and friends.” Gonzalez added.

Marcelin was charged with one count of concealing a human corpse the day after the body was discovered.

The chief medical examiner’s office told NBC News that the reason and manner of death are still being investigated. According to NBC New York, authorities are looking into whether a dismembered limb found in a suitcase in Cypress Hills belonged to the dead woman.

According to the publication, the limb was discovered around 3:30 p.m. on Monday while responding to a call on Jamaica Avenue. The limb was recovered on March 8, five days after the body – which was missing the head, arms, and legs – was discovered on March 3.

“A passerby walking around the intersection of Pennsylvania and Atlantic avenues around 1:45 a.m. discovered the discovery near a pawn shop and other small businesses and called 911,” according to NBC New York.

Marcelin and Leyden are said to have known one other for at least two years, though the nature of their relationship is unknown.

“We’re still investigating into the motive,” NYPD Chief John Chell told the site. “Based on her history, she’s capable of a lot of awful things out there.”
