Police search for armed and dangerous murder suspect, ask public for help

Police in Bellingham, Washington, were searching for an armed and dangerous murder suspect who they say killed a woman on Tuesday.

And authorities were urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspect, 33-year-old Shilo A. Englert, to come forward.

According to KOMO, police were intending to conduct a welfare check at a residence on N State St on Tuesday when they discovered a 31-year-old woman in the stairwell, dead of a gunshot wound.

Her death has been ruled a homicide, authorities said in a news release, though her identity was not immediately released.

Englert was wanted for second-degree murder as of Sunday.

“There is probable cause for Englert’s arrest as a result of the detectives’ investigation. An active arrest warrant for murder 2nd degree exists,” the police news release said.

Police were warning the public that he is considered armed and dangerous.

“BPD detectives are actively investigating this case,” Bellingham Police Lt. Claudia Murphy told The Bellingham Herald on Thursday.

“At this time only these limited details are being released,” Murphy added.

Police were asking anyone with information on Englert’s whereabouts to reach out to them either online or via a confidential phone tip line.

“Police are seeking the assistance of anyone who knows where Englert may be hiding,” KIRO reported.

“Anyone with information on his whereabouts are asked to submit a tip to their confidential tip line at 360-778-8611 or at www.cob.org/tips,” the outlet added.

However, police were urging anyone who comes into contact with the suspect to call the emergency phone line.

“If anyone sees Englert, police say to call 911 immediately,” KIRO said.
