When it comes to a procedural vote, the moderate Democrat told reporters that he will vote against The Women’s Health Protection Act saying it doesn’t codify Roe, because it “expands abortion” by repealing hundreds of state abortion prohibitions.
On Wednesday, liberal pundits and celebrities condemned Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., for stating he would vote against his party’s abortion bill.
He formally blocked the legislation subsequently.
Manchin’s decision was criticized by liberal journalists and activists.
In a profanity-laced tweet, actress Nancy Lee Grahn said the senator didn’t know what he was talking about. “How does the WHPA go too far? Make him explain what that means. He’s full of s—,” she tweeted.

She added In another tweet: “.#Manchin has already become a multi-millionaire from getting paid off with Republican oil & Pharm money so he doesn’t need a job. But after ’25 he’ll NEVER sit his lying A– in our Congress again, & will go down as one of the greatest impediments to Democracy in modern history.”
Grahn wasn’t the only one losing her marbles.
John Pavlovitz, an author, activist, and pro-choice pastor called Manchin “the worst of us.” He continued to tweet.
.@Sen_JoeManchin is a national tragedy.
He will be forever remembered as a coward and a grifter who irreparably damaged millions of lives for his own financial gain.
The worst of us.

Adam Parkhomenko, a Democratic strategist, called Manchin a “corrupt Republican scumbag.”
Joe Manchin said he would’ve switched parties if Thune was leader. He’s a corrupt republican scumbag who doesn’t give a damn about anyone but his donors. Period.
