It’s over. The most shamefully botched retreat in American history has ended in a rout – and with hundreds of Americans and thousands of our allies left behind.
On Monday, the Pentagon announced the end of the evacuation mission in Afghanistan, and the last military plane left the runway of the Kabul airport.
Marine General Frank McKenzie announced that hundreds of Americans were still left in the country.
“I believe our State Department is going to work very hard to allow any American citizens that are left — and we think the citizens that were not brought out number in the low — very low hundreds,” he said.
The fact that we abandoned Bagram air force base, refused to control the entire city of Kabul after being offered the ability to by the Taliban, and then turned away Americans at the gates of the airport is a national disgrace.
The fact that we left Americans behind is a chilling and unforgivable decision by the Biden administration. It’s time to pray for all those left behind.
