The wife of John Griffin, the former CNN producer who was charged in December for sex trafficking minors, has filed for divorce from her husband, the New York Post reported Saturday.
In court papers, 46-year-old Allyson Griffin said her husband’s “arrest for various crimes has created a toxic environment.”
She sought full custody of their three children, the couple’s $4.5 million house in Connecticut and alimony.
The papers were initially filed on Jan. 17.
Griffin, a producer on CNN shows like “New Day,” made national headlines after a December indictment which he was charged for allegedly soliciting mothers and their daughters as part of a sick BDSM sex ring.
He was fired by the network shortly after his arrest, Newsweek reported.

“According to the indictment, from April to July of 2020, Griffin utilized the messaging applications Kik and Google Hangouts to communicate with people purporting to be parents of minor daughters, conveying to them, among other ideas, that a ‘woman is a woman regardless of her age,’ and that women should be sexually subservient and inferior to men,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of Vermont said in a news release.
In one case, the news release said, Griffin allegedly “transferred over $3,000 to (a) mother for plane tickets so the mother and her 9-year-old daughter could fly from Nevada to Boston’s Logan airport.
“The mother and child flew to Boston in July of 2020, where Griffin picked them up in his Tesla and drove them to his Ludlow house. At the house, the daughter was directed to engage in, and did engage in, unlawful sexual activity.”
The indictment also alleged he tried to get two other children online to participate in unlawful sexual activity.
If convicted, Griffin faces between 10 years to life in prison.
“Allyson, like everyone else, was stunned and horrified to hear about the charges against her estranged husband, and her heart absolutely breaks for any potential victim in this case,” Allyson’s attorney told the New York Post.
“She had absolutely no knowledge of any alleged wrongdoings. The couple has been separated for nearly two years, and Allyson has now filed for divorce. She remains focused on raising her children and serving her community.”
According to a December Breitbart report, John and Allyson Griffin had been separated since 2020 but had allegedly been working on their marriage at the time of the arrest. While no reason for the initial separation was given, one resident the outlet talked to “claimed it was known in the community Griffin was a ‘heavy drinker’ and was believed to have been to rehab.”
