Rhonda Exum said she was promised the illegal immigrant drunk driver accused of killed her daughter would be deported. That turned out to be a lie.
Thanks to President Joe Biden’s immigration policies, the man who killed 19-year-old Adrienne Sophia Exum will likely be staying in the country — and her mother was never informed when his deportation order was rescinded.
According to the Daily Mail, Heriberto Fuerte-Padilla allegedly killed Exum in a November 2020 drunk driving accident in Texas. The illegal immigrant attempted to flee from police but was captured. The case is still pending in court, Meaww reported.
The Department of Homeland Security had initially sought to deport Fuerte-Padilla after he served whatever punishment is meted out in Texas.
However, under new rules issued by Biden DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas in September of 2021, Fuerte-Padilla no longer qualifies for priority deportation. Under the new rules, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection cannot deport illegal immigrants with lower-level criminal records.
“For the first time, our guidelines will, in the pursuit of public safety, require an assessment of the individual and take into account the totality of the facts and circumstances,” Mayorkas said in a statement regarding the new enforcement policies.
Rhonda Exum and Adrienne’s cousin appeared on Fox News Tuesday demanding answers from President Biden and his administration.
“I really want to know why,” said Rhonda Exum.
“By him not being deported, it’s like you telling me my daughter’s life didn’t mean anything.”
She also expressed her disappointment in Biden, whom she voted for.
“I thought he was going to talk for the American people, basically, and not for himself,” she said.
When asked what the president had done in a year in office, she responded, “Absolutely nothing. I hope that, you know, I’m wrong, but I don’t feel anything. I don’t feel that he has done anything but disappoint.”
Tranette Gamboa, Adrienne’s cousin, also expressed her disgust with the Biden administration and DHS.
“It is very unfortunate. I was shocked, actually,” she said. “I was thinking he was going to be punished. But again, they don’t care.”
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a Republican, also appeared to lambast the Biden administration for the new policies.
“Apparently it does not matter” to the administration that someone illegally in the country was responsible for the death of Adrienne Sophia Exum, Paxton said.
“I feel sad for the family, because the reality is I believe that Biden has betrayed our country. He’s betraying families that are losing people right and left,” he added.
“I think the answer to the ‘why?’ is that they have greater goals that are more important than saving members of families.”
That includes allowing a man accused of killing a teenager to remain in the country after he serves whatever sentence he serves. If he does it again, that puts blood on their hands — but it’s blood in service of a greater liberal goal, so odds are they’ll just wash it off and move along like they’ve done with the rest of the border crisis.
Rhonda Exum will still be there, however, and she has some advice for them. “My message is: Look out for the American people first,” she said.
If they refuse to do that, the American people should remember Adrienne Sophia Exum — and the rest of the chaos caused by Biden’s border policies — at the ballot box in November.
