Biden violates mask mandate while visiting posh DC restaurant

President Joe Biden was caught on video Saturday appearing to flout the indoor mask mandate in Washington, D.C., while walking through a restaurant.

According to the Daily Mail, President Biden and first lady Jill Biden went out for dinner at Fiola Mare, an upscale Italian seafood restaurant, after attending mass in Georgetown.

In a video originally posted to TikTok, the president could be seen walking past other diners in the restaurant:

Biden was not wearing a mask in the video, despite D.C.’s citywide indoor mask mandate.

Masks are required “in indoor public settings,” including “any business or establishment open to members of the public (including but not limited to: grocery stores, restaurants and bars (when not eating or drinking), places of worship, gyms, office buildings, libraries, indoor entertainment venues, and common areas of apartment or condominium complexes),” according to the city’s official mask guidance.

The restaurant itself also requires that patrons wear masks.

“Per CDC guidance and DC Mayor Muriel Bowser’s executive order, all individuals over age 2 are required to wear a mask indoors, regardless of vaccination status. Masks must be always worn while in our restaurants, except while eating and drinking. Thank you for understanding,” according to the website for the restaurant group that operates Fiola Mare.

Biden, for his part, has often sung the praises of masks. In July, his administration said the president would wear a masks indoors, following CDC guidance.

“I hope all Americans who live in the areas covered by the CDC guidance will follow it; I certainly will when I travel to these areas,” Biden said in a statement at the time, according to CNBC.

Social media users were quick to call out Biden’s apparent hypocrisy.

“Hypocrites gonna hypocrite, y’all,” commentator Clay Travis wrote.
