President Biden ran for office on the premise that he would beat Covid. In a memorable phrase, he said he’d “shut down the virus, not the country.”
How’s that going?
Not very well apparently. In an abrupt about-face, Biden is now saying that the federal government is powerless to shut down the virus. He then left for his Delaware beach house.
Wait, didn’t he run almost solely on defeating COVID? Is he quitting? https://t.co/BYbnX0neMk

“Look, there is no federal solution. This gets solved at the state level,” he said. “And then ultimately gets down to where the rubber meets the road, and that’s where the patient is in need of help or preventing the need for help.”
Even by the standards of this administration, this is a pathetic lack of leadership. They were willing to say anything to get elected, making unrealistic promises about shutting down a pathogen that was never going to listen to political punditry and just stop spreading.
What’s surprising is how little effort Biden and his handlers have put into pretending to actually do something. It’s like they’ve completely given up on pulling the wool over our eyes, and just decided to give up.
